<p><img class=" wp-image-4010 aligncenter" src="https://rockthepigeon.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/7-8-18-far-from-refuge.jpeg" alt="7 8 18 Far From Refuge" width="447" height="447" />Far From Refuge&#8217;s &#8216;There Was a Light&#8217; is relatively straightforward, breakdown-heavy English metalcore. &#8220;Formed in 2017,&#8221; the band says, &#8220;our music combines elements from progressive metal, metalcore and melodic death [metal].&#8221; This group does a really good of creating dynamic electronic soundscapes for their brutality to sit over. They definitely lean more toward the metal side of metalcore. This a pretty tight, clean production that strays from the messiness and overt emotionality of hardcore punk. These guys definitely take a lot from metalcore classics like Killswitch Engage and the recently reunited As I Lay Dying, but it seems like they&#8217;ve also listened to groups like Shadows Fall, Darkest Hour and Converge.
