Massic’s ‘Devolve’ is bruising, straightforward metalcore from Australia. “The band began life in 2015 as a strict song writing project,” the group says, “but the parties involved quickly realized this was more than a studio session and needed to play live.” They played “their debut show at the Metalfields II Festival on the Gold Coast in December of that year. Since then Massic has” become engrained in their “local live music scene… [with] events such as Shredfest, Ye Gods of Metal and Metal United Down Under.” These guys bring the pain with a tight precision. In a lot of ways, they sound like progressive death metal outfits like Gojira or Meshuggah, but they maintain the unfettered simple insolence that defines hardcore punk. These guys know what’s up.
