Beta State’s ‘What Happened To Us?’ is glitzy, fluttering pop music with notable pop and rap influences. This shiny music reminiscent of Twenty One Pilots, Imagine Dragons or maybe even Drake has a very high production value. Every little note and sound on here has a real purpose. The choice to make an entirely original track rather than deferring to samples or someone else’s work is laudable. On top of all that, the vocal performance on here is really on another level.
