‘Gay Parade’ by The Gullibles Is Immaculately-Produced Grungy-Yet-Upbeat Alt Rock

7 31 18 The Gullibles‘Gay Parade’ by The Gullibles is grungy-yet-upbeat alt rock with a punky flair. The band describes itself as, “pop & guitarmonies from Dalton, GA.” Apparently, an earlier iteration of this song was covered by the legendary pop punk outfit Teenage Bottlerocket. After the much deserved publicity, these guys decided to record a cleaned-up version of the tune and shoot a music video. The intense guitar chugging with the hyper-saturated, distorted tone that makes up the body of the song is really something else. Behind that, the rhythm section slams down a perfect structure for the song’s more melodic elements. The extensive use of high, Weezer-style backing accents is a quality addition to the relatively straightforward, yet quite well done, lead vocal approach. It adds a nice layer of personality. All in all, the production on here is really what allows the band to shine. This is a cut above the rest. Check out ‘Gay Parade’ below!
