Oklahoma-based Husbands is releasing a string of singles, starting with their latest, “Beautiful Son.” This new song features string instruments heavily as well as sounds from nature and gorgeous vocalizations. As the instruments and vocals layer approaching the climax of the song, it transforms from just another song to an ethereal experience, beckoning anyone who listens to it into a trance-like state. On their Bandcamp website, Husbands lists the lyrics of the song as “beautiful s*n,” allowing us to hear son as in child and sun as in the star. This creates a beautiful ambiguity for exploring the message of cowgirls and the beauty of the Costa Rican coast.
