Phantom Phunk’s ‘Something Certain People Say’ Is Straightforward, Compressed Garage Rock

10 29 18 Phantom Phunk.jpgPhantom Phunk’s ‘Something Certain People Say’ is straightforward, light punk with strong, clear garage rock influences. “Since their origins in 2015,” the band says they have, “established themselves as one of the leading creative forces in Tampa’s underground music scene.” After some switch-ups, the group has settled into the line-up of “Alexa Toro on vocals, Nick Emiliozzi on drums and Hector Fontanet on guitar.” These guys know how to pack a simple, well-compressed song full of personality. Although the production is tight and kind of restrained in certain regards, the emotion in the guitar work and the dynamism of the vocals really come out. In a weird way, this feels a lot like a live performance. This is a cool track from a solid band. Check out ‘Something Certain People Say’ below!
