Candy’s Room’s ‘Hither Green’ Is Funky, Rock-Facing World Music

Hither Green’ by Candy’s Room is some dynamic, funky rock music with a modern indie approach. These guys describe themselves as taking “influence from old Motown records and 80s college rock bands like Sonic Youth and Galaxie 500 in [an] attempt to create a hybrid of popular music tones.” They say this track “features string and brass arrangements, which have been layered using modern production techniques — an experiment to try and replicate the sound of a full orchestra.” There’s definitely a lot of very cool stuff happening on here. That can probably be attributed in part to the broad array of influences these guys utilize. The band has a groovy world music vibe that’s really not all that common these days. The band’s take is decidedly retro, but this particular fusion of well-treaded sounds comes off as unique, organic and vibrant. This is an awesome track. Check out ‘Hither Green’ below!
