Rising punk band, Destroy Boys are out with new song “Honey I’m Home.”
Destroy Boys are a female-fronted band, carrying on the Riot Grrrl legacy. They do it super well with a sound that feels both retro and fresh at the same time. Formed in 2015, the band has definitely picked up lots of attention in the past few years including placements on Official Spotify playlists, tour bookings and over 200,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Destroy Boys latest song “Honey I’m Home” is about feeling trapped and controlled. It seems to be about taking the power back and letting go of what’s stopping you from moving past difficulties. The band combines distorted guitars, a solid rhythm section, and unique sounding punk-rock vocals with great lyricism to create incredible songs that are well-worth listening to.
Destroy Boys is scheduled to be touring with Against Me! in the fall 2020.
“It was written at a time in my life where I felt mentally trapped on all sides. I was boxed in by everything around me. Even though there were no physical restraints keeping me from escaping my situation, I couldn’t bring myself to leave. I was able to free myself a few months back, and now the song is more of a redemption song than anything. No more bars on the window, freaky cliff metaphors, et cetera. It’s a perfect quarantine anthem, considering we are all trapped at home.”
