17 year old Singer-songwriter, Elise Marra is making waves in the music world. She has recently placed as top 20 on the iTunes singer-songwriter charts with her self-titled debut EP. Her voice features incredible emotion ranging from empowerment to heartbreak.
The first track “Confused” is on the heavier side, and leans more in the grunge and rock realms than in the folk singer-songwriter genre. Her voice has impressive vibrato which is a rarity for her age. She leans into an early singer-songwriter sound, like Joni Mitchell, in “Blue Eyed Girl.” The jazz chords fit well with her vocal tone that is dynamic and can cover many genres. Other songs on the EP do feature acoustic guitars as the driving instrumental and are more laid back such as “I Won’t Forget” and “Maybe We Fall in Love.” Perhaps, the most stand out track on the record is the final track “Insecure” which features a towering vocal that could grace a Broadway theatre stage and heavy rock guitars.
Her EP is self-titled and features 6 stand out tracks that serve as a great introduction to her craft and talent. We look for to hearing more from this young, rising star! There is truly a little something for everyone on this record! Dive in:
