“Pretty Boy” by Kira Peace
We’ve all had breakups where we realize that we were mistreated once the relationship ends. Kira Peace’s newest single, “Pretty Boy” shares her experience in this post-breakup situation. The vocal delivery reminds me of a more polished sounding Hayley Williams. “Pretty Boy” is reminiscent of Paramore’s After Laughter, with a funky bassline adds to the unique energy of this track. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any catchier, there’s a killer sax solo about 2 and a half minutes in. This will definitely be track #1 on my Anti-Valentines Day Playlist! Listen to “Pretty Boy” on Spotify, Apple Music, and Deezer– or check out the official music video linked below.
“Bitter” by Ben Wolf
Is Ben Wolf the indie Belgium version of Ed Sheeran? “Bitter” will sway you into saying yes- this track is full of Ed Sheeran level earworms. The upbeat energy will remind of you the viral hit “Shape of You”. Some argue that true love is wishing the best for those we love even if it means they aren’t in our lives anymore. Ben Wolf shares his take on this ideology through this song. It wouldn’t be an anti-valentine’s day playlist without some emo singer-songwriter vibes, right? Listen to “Bitter” on Spotify.
“Favour (feat. YungHoni)” by LILO
I don’t know about you, but I always need a high-energy banger on my playlists- especially the anti-vday ones. LILO and YungHoni fuse together pop, punk, rap, and even edm in their collaboration “Favour”. The high-quality production is commercial level. “Favour” could be on a Netflix show or even the next club favorite. If Post Malone had a skate punk song- it would sound like this! Next time you’re too in your feelings and need an energy boost, spin “Favour” on Spotify.
Stay tuned for more anthems to be added to the list!
