Grammy, Golden Globe, and Critics’ Choice Award-nominated producer Linda Perry has released a new title track on her latest album, Let It Die Here. The legendary Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee sings about letting a battle against the traumas of abuse and family strife finally be released, having “Fought the battles, with the child’s sword, I stabbed the monster, but lost the war.”

With gritty, bluesy guitars and her signature raspy voice over soulful instrumentation, this track is both a vulnerable and cathartic release from the music legend’s modern era while sharing the DNA of the sound that she’s distilled over the impressive decades of her discography.

A fitting follow-up to her 2024 documentary, Let It Die Here, this single bears the themes and narratives in which Linda Perry lays bare the traumas of being harmed as a child, and the desires to be set free from the weight of it as she stares down the future, proud of the mother and person she’s grown to be.

“Let It Die Here, the album, is about my mom and experiences that I had – trauma, the abuse, all of that stuff. So let it die here means exactly that, you know? I want to let that trauma die here. I want to let this past go. I want to let that anger and the guilt and the shame and the blame go.” – Linda Perry, NPR, May 2026

True to Perry’s signature writing chops, the song’s lyrics are driven by striking metaphors that play off what sounds like an even-step candence bravery of a matriarch who’s ready to accept that there’s no going back. The single, along with the album, isn’t one of lamenting the past; it’s a song about looking the past dead in the face and reconciling as you lay it all to rest.

Catch up with the latest from singer/songwriter legend, Linda Perry, with her newest album’s title track, “Let It Die Here.”
