Tom Goss’ Flair for the Bear on “Hey Bear!”

Let’s Hear It for the Bears!

Tom Goss’ latest single “Hey Bear!” has reached the silver screen of queer cinema while telling a story of its own.

The short film Only Bears (dir: Billy Clift) is about a pair of married bears (as in gay married and grown men with hair and a lot to love) who attempt to rekindle their romance despite the headaches and daily stressors of life, traffic, queer social chaos, and the little bumps that add up along the way.

In a tone fit for a happily-ever-after ending on the silver screen, the lyrics of the chorus put a flush of bashful rose in your cheeks, picking up the mood with plucky and bright acoustics and finger snaps; “Hey Bear!” is a much-needed refreshing spotlight on the big boys who deserve the lightness and levity that gay love between men can bring.

“We can fall in love under soft moonlight

Sneak into a den tonight

A thousand other ways to heal

The little bits of sad we feel …

Hey, bear, you got what I want, and I love it”

Delightfully easy listening and heartwarmingly gay, “Hey Bear!” is one of many songs that highlight the love and connectedness that Tom Goss’ work speaks to with every new release.
