<p>One thing about the Houston music scene, it&#8217;s a hotbed of raw talent and edge among the musicians that call it home. Among them is punk band <a href="https://ffm.to/wordweapons?utm_source=ig&;utm_medium=social&;utm_content=link_in_bio&;fbclid=PAcGRvZgJleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA85MzY2MTk3NDMzOTI0NTkAAaetm03M4PUy6erGAMPbArWJQol1tCMQlVgOsaW1_cSwS5lPjprAfMccATJP2A_aem_ET32eF4OLV3KdsY437iqyA&;utm_id=97760_v0_s00_e0_tv3">The Secret Plan</a>, and they&#8217;re full steam ahead on the release of their upcoming EP, <em>Word Weapons. </em>Leading the charge on this exciting, rebellious rebel bark-back is The Secret Plan&#8217;s latest release, &#8220;Apple Bit Me.&#8221;</p>
<p>But let&#8217;s not give all the glory to the Lone Star State; this Houston-born band cranks up a sound bigger than Texas itself with supercharged impenitent lyrics like, &#8220;I got visions of me living like I give a shit, I&#8217;m in the backseat of a taxi screaming suck my dick.&#8221;</p>
<p>It&#8217;s hard to miss the dissent against the patriarchal and punishing overtones that the song seems to respond to with the references to the apple, to a certain accusation. The chorus is a quintessential pushback on that entirely:</p>

He said I bit the apple, but the apple bit me&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>The crux of what they&#8217;re saying isn&#8217;t exactly a novel idea, but that&#8217;s kind of the point. They&#8217;ve just found a way to bring their own energy, footprint, and voices to the battles that have been waged far too long against them. Armed with rhytm, riff, and righteous rage, The Secret Plan&#8217;s &#8220;Apple Bit Me&#8221; is a hell of a lot more than bite.</p>
