Ska punk veterans Ballyhoo’s new song ‘I Don’t Wanna Go’ is an intensely bouncy rock tune with lots to offer. These Warped Tour warriors have been on the road for over a decade playing with legends like Less Than Jake, Anti-Flag and the Dirty Heads. Ballyhoo’s intensity hasn’t faded at all with their years on tour. ‘I Don’t Wanna Go’ sounds just as impassioned and full of heart as their earliest releases. The band’s dedication to traditional rock instrumentation, unlike many of their stylistic peers, has allowed them to create a straight-forward, frill-free sound. Howi Spangler’s steady reggae strumming and strong voice are what the group has always been known for. Nick Lucera’s walking bass line meshes nicely with Donald Spangler’s drums. Scott Vandrey’s keys might not be super noticeable in the mix, but the song would be amiss without them. Go check these guys out. They’re dedicated musicians who truly deserve your time and attention.
