‘Shake’, the new The DTEASE song, is an energetic, grungy punk song with significant classic rock influences. These Santa Barbara natives are known for their spirited live shows led by frontman Wilson Gil. ‘Shake’ is definitely rooted in punk rock, but its more notable and interesting elements are rooted in classic rock. For example, the Doors-influenced organs really help define the song. Guitarists Sam McPherson & Josh McDonough chug away with an MC5 flair that ends up sounding kind of like the Melvins or Mudhoney. These guys aren’t post grunge, but their stylistic roots are pretty similar to those found in late-80s Seattle or Olympia. Anyways, these guys are a lot of fun. Go check out the song on Soundcloud:
