‘Everest’, the new CARDS song, is a plucky, twinkly indie rock tune with a strong pop sensibility. This Elliott Smith-inspired singer-songwriter is known for melding together elements of 90s pop with millenial alternative rock. ‘Everest’ has smooth, satisfying vocals that bubble up from the bottom of the mix. The song’s layered, plucky guitars are full of spunk. The rhythm section kind of takes a back seat on this track, but the bass line has more than just root notes going on and the simple drum beat is executed with a metronome-like precision. CARDS is really an up-and-comer. Check out ‘Everest’ below.
