‘Bum’ by Andrew Smolin Is Some Wonky, Tropical Indie Pop

5 13 18 Andrew SmolinAndrew Smolin’s ‘Bum’ is some multi-faceted, attitudinal indie pop. This guy “worked on this cross-genre, 30-plus track tune for a few months in [his] home studio.” The infectious guitar riff at the beginning gives the listener the sense that they’ve started a traditional rock track. The drop into the wonky, DAW-oriented body of the song really takes you off guard. This is a distinctly tropical tune, but given the lyrics here, it seems like the aesthetic is supposed to be taken with a grain of salt. ‘Bum’ seems like a fun, laid-back road trip tune.
