‘Laundry Room/Caesura’ by The Nova Darlings Has the Best Vocal Melodies in Indie Rock

5 13 18 The Nova Darlings‘Laundry Room/Caesura’ by The Nova Darlings is some post-hardcore-influenced indie rock. They describe it as, “a song about the infinite distance between you and the people you love, burrowing inward,” and “dealing with pain in real time.” These guys have some of the best vocal melodies in the game. In some ways, they kind of sound like Adventures or Rainer Maria. Behind that, there’s a group of people who know how to compose. More importantly, they play their instruments really well. Compositionally, the track’s move into more post-rock influenced electronic, sample-heavy territory is really engaging. In particular, the triangle section stands out. These guys are truly talented.
