The Heavy Hustle’s ‘Periphery’ is well-done, eclectic alternative rock. The band says they “were looking to push the genre-boundaries, by blending punk, funk, pop and prog, with a dash of each as the song progresses.” These guys do a great job of melding compelling melodies with hard-hitting grooves. The untethered guitar work which fluctuates between hardcore breakdowns and soaring prog-influenced interludes is really something new. Behind the guitars, a well-practiced rhythm section keeps everything in check. It should be noted that the vocals on here are top notch. If you’re a fan of The Mars Volta or Coheed and Cambria you should definitely give this a listen. Check out ‘Periphery’ below!
