‘Lost’ by Maps Of is sweet, tight indie-influenced post-rock. The band describes itself as, “a collaboration fronted by Nick Perlman on lead vocals and guitar, Andy Porta on drums and Seth Nicholson on bass with everyone lending their vocal talents.” As a function of the “wide range of musical influences… everyone has something unique to bring to the table,” they say. “Nick’s minimalist, almost meditative fingerpicking work, and emotive vocals juxtapose Seth’s active, gospel-inspired, bass playing and harmonizing, and Andy’s prog rock-influenced percussion ties it all together with movement and dynamism.” Clearly, these guys know what they’re doing when it comes to composition. They’re unafraid of using negative space to further their musical endeavor and have the emotional power to back that kind of an approach. These guys really know what they’re doing.
