Cleopatrick’s ‘Youth’ Is Patient Bluesy Ontarian Rock

7 8 18 Cleopatrick.jpgCleopatrick’s ‘Youth’ is patient rock music that makes good use of loud-quiet dynamics. “Best friends since the first day of kindergarten,” the band says, “frontman Luke Gruntz and drummer Ian Fraser translate their lifelong connection into a powerful unification of sound.” Utilizing “a bastardized bass amp and split signal, Gruntz simultaneously commands the range of bass and guitar topped with provocative blues grooves and take-down breakdowns.” This Ontario-based duo really knows how to paint on the intensity. Their home province has long been a hot bed of blues-oriented, punk-tainted rock music. These guys are doing a good job of carrying on that torch. Cleopatrick is absolutely worth a listen.
