‘Rise’ by Pablo Matisse Is Straightforward Punk with a Broad, Clean Tone

8 26 18 Pablo Matisse.jpg‘Rise’ by Pablo Matisse is straightforward, aggressive Swedish punk rock with a clean, broad tone. These guys “released a debut EP on Startracks last fall,” they say, “getting spins on national radio and specialized rock radio in Sweden. This fall sees the follow up heading your way – a new EP will be out in October.” The band says you “can always expect high quality, energy fuel punk rock from this quartet.” After a noisy intro, the band punches into their no nonsense, power chord-oriented sound. There are haunting, guitar bends that exist in effortless conjunction with creepy keys and unpretentious post-punk-style vocals. Under all of that, a rock solid rhythm section holds the whole piece together effortlessly. This is a quality release from an interesting band. Check out ‘Rise’ below!
