Mr. Lisp’s ‘Get Our Minds Right’ is straightforward, melodic skate punk with a grungy Californian flair. These guys describe themselves as, “a four piece punk band from Philadelphia, PA. The band formed in early 2017.” The group brings a lot to the table. On the one hand, there’s a deep, palatable familiarity to their sound. But under that, there’s a level of restraint these guys practice, which in conjunction to an acute attention to detail, allows them to form a unique approach to a well-treaded genre. Obviously, lines can be drawn between these guys and groups like NOFX and RKL, but at the same time it feels like they’re also taking cues from less traditional acts like Leftover Crack.
