‘Sick’ by Townies Is Anxious, Dynamic New England Pop Punk

11 12 18 Townies.jpg‘Sick’ by Townies is folky, grimy punk rock with an anxiously urgent, poppy approach. This “punk rock trio formed in the woods of Croydon, NH,” but is now “based in Boston, MA,” they say. They describe themselves as, “purveyors of bangers and broc.” These guys definitely traffic in raucous, rollicking tunes to say the least. They are unafraid to let their work develop and come into its own within the relatively limited framework of a three-minute rock track. At the same time, the band covers a lot of ground. They fuse a straightforward, traditionalist punk sensibility with the emotional dynamism and expansive tendencies that have come to define some of the genre’s newer developments. This is a very well-done track from a top-notch band. Check out ‘Sick’ below!
