‘The Swell’ by Sparks Fly From a Kiss is fuzzy psychedelic rock with an upbeat, chirping sensibility. They describe their new album, also called The Swell, as, “a gritty album of atmospheric melodies and sonic hooks.” The band came into existence when to members-to-be met “working at a New Brunswick, New Jersey bar and restaurant. Various members would join over the years to help add melody and depth to the music,” they say. These guys are definitely focused on creating a warm, immersive analog environment, but that hasn’t impacted the clarity or precision of this track. The group covers a lot of sonic ground on here, but that hasn’t lead to the type of free-wheeling, unfocused composition that often happens with this type of rock. They hang on to their roots without sacrificing a unique take. Check out ‘The Swell’ below!
