Russian born pop songstress Alya’s latest album, Ten Years of Solitude, is chock full of electronic pop greatness. Her beautiful vocals harken to the likes of Sia and Morcheeba’s Skye Edwards. And her sound would also be quite pleasing for fans of the tunes of the aforementioned electronic pop songbirds.
While her latest single – “Heart Shaped Hole” – is generating worldwide buzz, it’s her previous single – “Puppet Strings” – that’s been on my heavy rotation for the past few weeks. With a rock and trip-hop influenced backbeat that brings to mind the great producer and songwriter Tricky, “Puppet Strings” hits hard while still highlighting Alya’s powerful pop vocals as the main attraction.
