Tom West begins his new song “Emiko” with a slow acoustic guitar strum. The vocals come in on the track and immediately hook the listener. Tom West sings about “living a lie” and being in “trouble.” The singer-songwriter, based in Australia, dives into the topics of love and heartbreak on “Emiko.” He sings beautifully about trying to build a relationship back together but not being sure where the parts and pieces fit in anyone. He sings her name in the bridge several times. The vocal melodies in the song come across as very unique and surprising to our ears. They adventure to unexpected places to create an irresistible and catchy sound.

“I set out to explore the idea that “love” is a thing that doesn’t always neatly align with our expectations, whether internal or in a broader social sense. Consequently, as people, we try to navigate this experience as best we can but sometimes, despite our best intentions, things can fall down and it can feel like we’re putting back pieces in places where they just don’t seem fit anymore.”
