Shayna Blass Releases Lyrically & Musically Brilliant Debut EP [Review]

Described as “high energy sexy soul” Shayna Blass sure is bringing a soulful and bluesy vibe to her music. Blass released her fantastic debut EP, titled BLASS, on December 6th, 2019 which includes the song “Rainy Afternoon.” The lyrical content covers the perspective of a woman who has recently found out her man is cheating on her with another woman. She then escapes the relationship and the town, booking a ticket to leave her “troubles behind” and is certain to not be seen crying. The music in “Rainy Afternoon” is praise-worthy, coming across as highly authentic and soulful. The guitar solos and riffs are so well-played and so bluesy that it’s impossible to not feel them throughout your body as you listen. Fitting in with music from the Woodstock era, Shayna Blass’s music is a true gift to the current industry.

Other tracks on the EP include “Pretty Old Boy” that feels a bit more singer-songwriter folk than “Rainy Afternoon.” Shayna shows off both her personality and vocal range on this track. “Hey!” comes across as more jazzy and calming and serves as a great introduction to the EP. With a rolling bass part and sophisticated chords, “Hey!” is impossible to skip over. The last track on the EP “Won’t Be Long”, is a quick paced rock n’ roll anthem, that is destined to make listeners shake.

This EP is a gift to music fans everywhere. It is definitely in the top 10 EP’s that Rock the Pigeon has heard this year. Carrying the spirit of classic rock and singer-songwriter folk, Shayna Blass is an artist to definitely pay attention to. We know you will enjoy this EP. Rock the Pigeon can’t wait to hear a full LP!
