Yeah, we said it. “Mean Girl” by Manny Dibiachi is like, totally fetch, we’re obsessed, and here’s why.

First off, the cover art is, of course, inspired by The Burn Book from the movie. This cover art rendition makes me want to buy a physical copy just cause.
The song properly starts with a sample from the movie. It leads straight into the bouncy trap beat and Manny feeling himself in the intro, then directly into the catchy hook. This hook is gonna be stuck in my head for weeks. I’m gonna think of this hook any time people bring up the movie (or when someone’s just being a bitch). Manny’s vocal delivery gives us bad bitch energy, and combine that with the bass, I started to feel myself as I nodded my head to the track.
The verses are equally hard hitting. With unforgettable word play and heavy hitting vocal delivery, his cadence and flows shine most here. I enjoy the eloquent rhyme technicalities with perfectly matched vowel rhymes in several lines. The combination of all these elements will certainly keep us coming back to “Mean Girl.” Manny really proves with this song that he’s a force to be reckoned with in the hip-hop industry.
I had the privilege to ask Manny a couple of questions. Check it out below!
Describe your release in 3 sentences.
A nostalgic confidence boost. Accepting the mean and good in yourself no matter the outside opinion. To be fully you is to love all of you, and it doesn’t hurt to dance while doing it!
What is your favorite part about this song?
My favorite part of this song are the harmonies in the chorus. I engineered most of my music so naturally I’m attached to the production. They fill the section so well and it reminds me of the perfect movie scene where the “populars” are strutting through the hallways. I wanted to create a moment like that, that feels opulent.
Was this release cathartic for you?
This release was very cathartic for me. Being a black gay man, who is an artist, in today’s climate feels like a martyr job in of itself. To deliver something powerful to my communities is what’s important to me most. I know we need something that makes you feel good when you turn to art, something that picks you up and moves you. Even for a few minutes, to give people happiness, that’s cathartic.
What can we expect next from you?
What to expect from Manny Dibiachi is like expecting the weatherman to predict the weather. I could plan, look at data, and give you my predictions…but truly it’s up to the universe. I plan to drop a few more singles before another EP. 2021 looks like creativity and inclusivity for me so I look forward to stepping out of my comfort zones and creating a name for myself.
What other artists are you listening to right now?
I’m very much into ShyGirl right now. I feel like her sound is so unique. The electronic rap is evolutionary. Yung Baby Tate, Tk Maizda, GIVÉON, Vanjess and Bree Runway!! I appreciate an amazing songwriter, once I connect with your lyrics I’m hooked.
Thank you so much for your time answering those questions for us!
