R&B artist on the rise, Shia Marii, released a new song, “STRONG,” a contemporary pop-meets-modern R&B track exploring themes of resilience, betrayal, and self-reliance.
Where many artists lean heavily on aggressive percussion and overly produced tracks, this London-based singer uses soft and intimate vocals that don’t hold back an ounce of her talent.
In a classic pop structure of her own variation, Shia Marii’s melodies soar from verse into chorus with an emotionally and musically pivotal bridge dripping in poignant meaning.
The lyrics of “STRONG” focus on the personal strength born out of disappointment and betrayal. Shia sings about being so obviously unseen, even undervalued by someone close enough to be right in front of while explicitly addressing the sobering thought: “Thought I was invincible but you… I trusted you.”
Even still, her vocals build her narrative and the song right back up over lyrics taking a brighter turn of resiliency and self-esteem: “When you have to be strong, ’cause life said I’m proving you wrong.” Despite the losses underlined in the song, the title remains true as it showcases her musical talents in writing and singing. Shia Marii is no stranger to themes of love, growth, or emotional storytelling.
