New Music Friday: “Fall Head First” by colby!

Rising Alt-Pop Star colby! Releases New Single, “Fall Head First” 

With musical stylings reminiscent of the space between Olivia Rodrigo and Mothica, this alt-pop track is an exploration of the terrifying vulnerability that comes with chasing a new love interest while looking over your shoulder at the past pains that follow closely behind you.

Similar to the fantastic production and flawless vocals, the lively and imaginative aritst colby! on her latest track, “Fall Head First.”

In addition to her vocal prowess, it’s through the clear, bright instrumentals that counterbalance the overwhelming rush of emotions that come from falling in love that this up-tempo alt-pop track is a touch of new-wave retrofitted to describe a modern love predicament.

This Texas-born artist has devoted her life to making music with her older brother and Berklee College alum, RJ Johnson. Having a brother who was a part of her musical journey early on helped shape the space around navigating the topics the song playfully yet painfully speaks to.

“This song is me trying to figure out how to protect myself without shutting the whole thing down. It’s not self-preservation in a cold, guarded way, but wanting to be able to love someone without constantly wondering, ‘Are you going to turn into a psychopath in four months?'” – cobly!

In other words, she’s no stranger to questioning her emotions while letting them out on the track, much like her personal pop icons, Amy Winehouse and Gwen Stefani, who have had an unmistakable influence on Colby!’s music and vocal stylings. colby! has used her momentum in finding her voice to collaborate with other rising pop artists, nothhingspecial and Eli Wilson, on her other recent releases. She’ll join Natalie Jane on her European tour this spring.
