‘Dannyboy’ by Timothy Bridges is fun, hook-oriented indie rock with a strong pop sensibility. This debut solo track from the former bassist of The Happy Hippo Family is by all means a strong showing. This is a very laid back track, but at the same time there’s something deeply pensive and melancholic about it. The lyrics probably have a very specific meaning for the artist, but for the listener their repetitive, hooky and somewhat obscured nature leaves them open for interpretation. Behind all of that, there’s some strong, understated musicianship. It’s the perfect compliment to the vocals, which by and large take the lead role. This is a promising debut from a project with tons of potential. Check out ‘Dannyboy’ below!
