Book of Shame’s ‘Compatability’ is spacey, untethered rock music with a defiant, ethereal aesthetic. These guys say a chance run-in at a violin repair shop, “led to a collaboration that has resulted in an album, a band, a lifestyle and poverty for two men who should know better.” There’s certainly a lot of ground covered on this track. From the tappy mechanical guitar lead that carries the piece down to the punchy, expressive rhythm section, this is a song with great melodic depth. It’s great how these guys allowed their various approaches, techniques and sonic preferences really play out. In a lot of ways, this is a piece based around contrasts, but at the same time there’s a clear sense of unity. This a cool piece from a promising project Check out ‘Compatability’ below!
