The Empty Page’s ‘When the Cloud Explodes’ Is Gritty, Atmospheric Post-Punk

The Empty Page’s ‘When the Cloud Explodes’ is some gritty, atmospheric post punk with a soaring, melodic take. “Taking their name from a Sonic Youth song inspired by Jack Kerouac,” these guys “have been making a racket and jumping around all over the place since their inception in a draughty warehouse in Ancoats, Manchester.” In addition to “diligently ticking their favourite UK venues off their collective wish list, from Manchester Ritz to Hebden Bridge Trades, the band went back to Canada to play shows in Toronto after winning Indie Week UK.” They say “more UK and Europe shows are soon to be announced for 2019.” This band can pack a lot of energy into a track. In spite of that tendency, they have a flow and aesthetic not many bands in their scene have the ability to match. These guys are absolutely worth a listen.
