Brad Armstrong has released the single “Brother Ford” to tease his upcoming Americana album that is due out on April 19th, 2019. The bluesy single starts off strongly with an incredibly well played acoustic guitar that riffs and bends. The sound floats between folk and blues, giving a more roots vibe when additional instrumentation kicks in, such as classical sounding strings that can really rip. Brad Armstrong shows off his storytelling talents in this song, both through the instrument choices and the vocal delivery of exciting lyrical content. The song takes many twists and turns, giving a similar feeling to watching an old western film as a massive battle breaks out on the screen. The production of the song builds and transforms to better tell the story and rev up the listener. “Brother Ford” is the type of song that will leave you at the edge of your seat as you wait to hear the outcome of the story. By the end of the song, listeners will be feeling invested in the story as if they are the narrator or the one singing. We asked this talented songwriter what he meant by the lyrics and he let us know: “A song about a traveling preacher in the first part of the 20th century. I liked the idea of writing a piece where the evil bastard preacher turns out to be the one ordained by God, and the traditionally good character who is seeking out the truth is the one ruined by it in the end.”
