‘Lindsay White’ by Mixed Kid Fridays Is Slow, Dynamic SoCal Punk Rock

‘Lindsay White’ by Mixed Kid Fridays is some relatively slow, anthemic punk rock out of Southern California. “Punk rock and the plastic streets of Los Angeles have brought a new answer to fake conformity,” these guys say. “Mixed Kid Fridays will turn your daily frustration into musical ecstasy, and remind you that your life is a book. So, don’t stop reading in the middle of a bad chapter.” This band is definitely bringing a lot of cool stuff to the table. They have a gritty, kind of flamboyant proto-punk vibe that they’ve masterfully fused with a more modern take informed by genres like pop punk, indie and alternative rock. In particular, it feels like the group takes a lot from The Pixies. Their great use of the loud-soft dynamic and the understated, deeply personal aesthetic of the vocal performance add to that connection. This is a strong track from a cool band.
