‘A Reformatted Heart’ by Astral Cloud Ashes is some melodic, moody alt-rock from the Isle of Jersey. Clearly, these guys are taking some strong cues from the emo scene, but their geographic isolation seems to have begat a more unique point of view. The bright, clean guitars seem at odds with the darker, more melancholic composition, but it actually works really well on here. It’s like the two sides of a person clashing with each other. The drums are timely and pounding and the bass is right in the pocket. A lot of this track’s personality can be attributed to the vocals. The nerdy, adolescent tone accomplished through the lyrical content is bolstered by this singer’s unique, understated vocal style. These guys have a lot offer. Check out ‘A Reformatted Heart’ below!
