From the eclectic electronic instrumental to the intoxicatingly catchy lyrics, “I Just Wanna” is a Rock The Pigeon Certified Banger™️.
The song starts off with a strong vocal delivery and catchy lyrics. I instantly wanted to to learn the lyrics so I could sing along to them in the car! Sylvia and Qhost sound phenomenal back-to-back on this heavy-hitting electronic instrumental. I really lose myself in this track, and that energy is so special and hard to find.
Not only does this song feel empowering, but it takes that feeling to the next level through the combination of the vocal stacking and addicting, catchy wordplay. This song is definitely one we will keep coming back to over and over again.
I had the privilege to ask Hectic a couple of questions about this release, check it out below!
Describe your release in three words.
Sexy, punk, unapologetic.
What was your favorite part about creating this song?
Our favorite part was writing the song, especially the hook in the chorus. When Sylvia heard it for the first time, she already knew what she wanted to say.
What was the hardest part?
The hardest part was also writing the song. I didn’t really know if it was too repetitive and if people would get bored because of that, but I think it just came out being catchy.
Was this release cathartic for you?
Sylvia said it was actually catharic because she raps about BDSM, and fetishes in general. She felt empowered in some way and freed from the bad experiences after it was written.
What keeps you motivated?
The support of the fans and friends motivates me a lot. Making this song was a risk, I think because I was used to making more pop songs and I didn’t know if people would enjoy it as much as my previous work. I got a lot of positive feedback though and it makes me so happy because I think the song really slaps and I just really love it myself.
What can we expect next from you?
Sylvia just released another new song “Bratz” which is also produced by Hectic. It’s an experimental dark pop banger. It’s sassy, feminist, and queer. The pair are also about to release a 3rd EP “Jinxes of the Innocence” this year which is more like a dark trap record. I also already started working on my debut album.
What other artists are you listening to right now?
Sylvia is in love with Andrea Di Giovanni’s new album “Rebel” and we are so excited for the future releases from Backxwash and Gozling. Hectic has been listening to a lot of new music from Dot, Octo Octa, Dengue Dengue Dengue and Zand.
